Nové Butovice has been experiencing a boom in the recent years, especially as an address for new companies. Office buildings have been springing up like mushrooms here. What the developers’ enthusiasm has been avoiding so far is the immediate vicinity of the Nové Butovice metro station and apartment buildings. Therefore, most of the tenants of the numerous office buildings are commuting to work at the moment.

However, that should change soon. HB Reavis’s Metronom office building is being erected right opposite the metro station, and a complex of two apartment buildings known as Smart by Trigema development company will be built next to it this year. It will offer slightly less than three hundred low-energy flats with above-standard fixtures.

In addition to new offices and flats, the two projects will be connected with new spaces for shops, art galleries and other commercial spaces, which will offer local residents more convenient shopping and relaxation for which they have had to travel to the somewhat distant Nové Butovice shopping mall or to Hůrka. The metro station area, which currently makes a neglected and not very attractive impression, will also be improved significantly. Butovice, even today an important transport hub and a place of employment of many people from Prague and around, will thus become a modern and dynamic centre of entertainment, shopping and relaxation.

The planning of the new projects has not forgotten culture. One of the more interesting plans is the establishment of an art gallery on the ground floor of the Smart project. The newly built ground area in the immediate vicinity of the project will offer room for unconventional art forms, and its residents will therefore be able to come across works of leading Czech photographers and street-art installations. You will be confronted with classic graffiti made by outstanding street artists, an interactive photograph installation, and photographs transformed into the stone mosaic adorning the sidewalk underneath your feet.
